We are facing a public health crisis, friend.
Right now, roughly one million California residents don't have access to clean drinking water. This problem is especially bad in the Central Valley where pollutants like nitrates, pesticides, and even uranium contaminate groundwater supplies in rural communities.
To make matters worse, it's Central Valley cities like Parlier, Huron, and Delano that need clean water access the most, but are often ineligible to receive federal funding for new clean water infrastructure. It's unacceptable and it must change.
That's why I introduced the Disadvantaged Community Drinking Water Assistance Act. This bill expands federal eligibility so mid-sized cities in the Central Valley can access $100 million in grants for clean water infrastructure.
Can you sign my petition to reaffirm your commitment to ending the Central Valley's clean water crisis? We all need to come together and demand that clean water access remains a top priority in Washington.
