A typical presidential candidate spends hours and hours a week doing "call time" — also known as calling wealthy donors and asking for money.
Not Elizabeth. She doesn't spend any of her time courting wealthy donors to fund her campaign. Instead, she values the time she spends talking with supporters from across the country at town halls.
And today she's doing her own style of "call time" — thanking a few of the grassroots donors who give what they can to this email, whether it's $5, $10, or $50.
Elizabeth has run this campaign with the help of people who pitch in 20 bucks and 5 bucks at a time.
And she makes as many calls as she can to thank them because it's a way to say democracy can't just be about who can write the biggest checks.
Elizabeth doesn't host any closed-door fundraisers with the wealthiest donors. She doesn't spend time on the phone buttering them up. Our democracy is not for sale, and neither is her time.
