John --

The Agriculture Department approved a new rule that will implement strict federal work requirements which could remove 700,000 people from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), also known as food stamps.

Two other rules are on the docket for approval early next year that could make it much harder for millions of struggling individuals and families to garner food assistance.

National poverty is growing. Food insecurity is increasing across the country as prices rise but pay remains stagnant. According to the USDA, more than 11 million children are faced with food insecurity across the country.

Food, housing, healthcare, and education are all basic human rights. No one should have to go hungry. As AOC put it, “In a modern, moral and wealthy society, no person in American should be too poor to live.”

We are at a crossroads as Republicans and the Trump Administration continue to attack critical programs that help Americans get by. Without essential programs like SNAP, the most vulnerable among us will suffer even more.

Today’s cuts emphasize how critical it is to have policies written by those who understand the struggle. Our candidates aren’t millionaires. Many on our slate have relied on assistance to keep food on their own tables. They would never vote for cruel policies like the ones we are seeing from this administration. We need their voices and their votes in Congress.

Can you contribute today to help us elect a Congress who will fight for all of us?
