When I decided to become a Pediatrician, I could have never imagined the number of children with bullet holes I would care for in my career.
I will never forget the image of the 3 year old, sitting alone in her hospital room, with her babydoll next to her. Her brother had found an unsecure gun at home and unintentionally shot her in the face. She lost her eye and her face was disfigured.
Nancy Mace proudly calls herself a “Second Amendment girl” and voted against even the smallest gun violence prevention legislation. That’s why we’ve got to vote her out.
I just shared my policy for how I’m going to combat gun violence as your member of Congress because I know how critical this issue is—it’s life or death. But I need you to say you're in this fight with me.
Will you add your name to our gun violence prevention petition by the end of this week?
We need background checks on all gun sales, a federal secure storage law, and federal funding for Hospital Based Violence Intervention programs. Our failure to act on this urgent public health crisis is something we should all be ashamed of. Our kids deserve better, we all deserve better.
With the Supreme Court making carrying guns easier and more and more mass shootings happening, we don’t have a moment to waste.
This is a crisis, and we need leaders who will actually respond, not cater to the NRA. So I’m asking you to sign our petition this week if you agree: Enough is enough.
Thank you,
Annie
