John— Today, I was incredibly honored to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Biden. To be recognized for public service, something which I have built my life around, means so much to me. But this award isn’t just for me and my work. It speaks to the determination and resilience of the gun violence prevention community as a whole. Without survivors, without responsible gun owners, without advocates of all ages dedicated to saving lives, we would not be where we are today. This award belongs not just to me, but also to all of you. I’ve done my best to live my life with courage, and I know I’m not the only one. The other recipients of this award have shattered expectations, blazing a bright path forward for us all. Recipients like Megan Rapinoe, a star on the US women’s soccer team who has championed issues like equal pay and LGBTQ+ rights. Like Simone Biles, the most decorated American gymnast in history who has spoken her truth time and again, no matter the personal cost. Like my friend, the late Senator John McCain, a lifelong public servant who epitomized courage and loved Arizona just as much as I do. I’m so grateful that our paths crossed in service of our state and of our country.  It’s the privilege of a lifetime to receive this award alongside all of these strong, fearless leaders. And it’s the privilege of a lifetime to work alongside champions like you. John, I am so grateful to have you with us in this fight. From the bottom of my heart—thank you.  All my best, Gabby
