There’s been a lot of talk about the filibuster.
In the wake of the recent SCOTUS decisions, there’s been a lot of talk about the filibuster. During a recent “Ask me anything” on Instagram, someone asked Alexandria:
Why is the filibuster preventing Democrats from passing things but wasn’t for Republicans before?
In case you have questions too, we wanted to share Alexandria’s response:
Alexandria has been clear that in order to protect and grow our majority, we must do anything and everything we can to protect people now. Not just tell them to vote in November.
Alexandria put forth a list of policy solutions that we can enact now to save lives and show the base of Democratic supporters that we are serious about protecting their rights.1
They include:
- Restrain judicial review
- Expand the court
- Clinics on federal lands
- Expand education and access to Plan C
- Repeal Hyde Amendment
- Hold floor votes codifying Griswold, Obergefell, Lawrence, Loving, etc
- Vote on Escobar’s bill protecting clinics
