John, last month U.N. Secretary General António Guterres officially declared we’re in an “Ocean Emergency.”

This announcement comes as evidence shows how climate change has been changing everything about our oceans for the worse — including rising sea levels, decreasing biodiversity, increasing acidification, and growing plastic pollution. These trends are already decimating communities that make their living off the ocean.

But make no mistake, this is not a crisis that will stay in just one corner of our world. As we already know with climate change: *all* climate issues are global issues. An Ocean Emergency means potentially devastating impacts for the U.S., too — large populations of Americans currently live on land that could be totally underwater by 2100.

And worse, there are still many other types of PFAS currently on the market, which could pose similar risks.

SEEC members have long known protecting our world from the effects of climate change means protecting our oceans, and developing innovative solutions to some of the biodiversity and pollution issues we’re seeing now. SEEC members also know that some of these solutions lie in the very bodies of water they aim to preserve, which makes keeping them clean and ecologically sound that much more important.

That’s why SEEC members launched a Nature and Oceans Task Force, which is focused on addressing our Ocean Emergency with as much urgency and attention as possible. They know we can do something about this emergency, and they’re not fearful about speaking out on its seriousness.

In order for SEEC members to continue pushing forward on these issues while other members of Congress stall, they need your support, John. They understand the gravity of everything we’re fighting for in the battle against climate change, but other members are not as convinced. We need to keep them fighting for these priorities in Congress, and to do that, we’re going to need your backing.

Will you contribute to SEEC members today, so we can re-elect the people paying attention to our most pressing climate issues, John? [[link removed]]

Now we are counting on you to help our SEEC members pass climate, clean energy and environmental justice policies in the 117th Congress while we undo the damage of the Trump Administration.
