UPDATE: The Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled against Madison Cawthorn and held that the 14th Amendment can be used to disqualify insurrectionists and those who gave them "aid and comfort" from office!
This is terrible news for anyone who could be potentially implicated in the events of January 6th – like Doug Mastriano, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, Paul Gosar, and of course, Donald Trump.
That’s not all – over 600 state Republican legislators were complicit in the lead-up to the January 6th insurrection, either through spreading misinformation, encouraging overturning the presidential election results or by being at the “Stop the Steal” rally – which means they could be next.
But this ruling could be tested by the Supreme Court – so we're polling local Democrats for their opinion.
Republican lawmakers have spent more than a YEAR downplaying the violence of that day and Trump's involvement – but the federal court's ruling means that the people responsible for inciting terrible violence on January 6th, 2021 can still be held accountable.
Still, this ruling could be further challenged in court by going all the way to the conservative-leaning Supreme Court.
So before this goes any further, please let us know if you think insurrectionists should be banned from running for office >>
