December has already been a busy month down in Washington, but it's picking up here in New Hampshire as well. This morning WMUR announced that a GOP opponent is getting ready to launch his campaign to unseat me. We have incredibly important votes coming up on government funding, the trade deal, defense authorization, and the impeachment inquiry, but with a potential opponent gearing up we need to be ready for anything. 

 

Before the 2019 session comes to a close, my team is focused on getting as much done as we can for Granite Staters before we take our last votes of the year -- that’s why I’m reaching out now.

 

One of the many items on my to-do list this week is ensuring Team Pappas finishes our fourth quarter fundraising strong because we know how closely the GOP has been watching our race in the First District. National Republicans are going all out in New Hampshire because they see a path to flipping both the House and the Senate in 2020 -- and that path depends on flipping this seat red.

 

They’ve even recruited Trump’s former campaign manager to run for Senate as part of their plan to ensure Republicans hold the majority. Our congressional district makes up half of the state, and the earlier we can get members of our team out in communities, the sooner we can run the strategy we need to stop the GOP’s plan to turn this seat red in November.

 

Running strong in the First District will support Democrats in races up and down the ticket, and hitting every fundraising benchmark will ensure we have the resources we need to knock doors in every community we can to protect this seat.

 

I’m one of the most vulnerable members of the House, and our seat has routinely changed hands between Republican and Democrat in four of the last five elections. Trump won here in 2016, and on Tuesday, a pro-Trump Super PAC started running more attack ads against me because they’ll do whatever it takes to flip this seat. And once our opponent is officially in the race, winning reelection will become even more challenging.
