Years ago, when a male legislator told me that I couldn’t make a difference because I was “just a mom in tennis shoes,” I didn’t let that stop me from fighting for my community and going on to serve as the first woman — and first mom — representing Washington state in the U.S. Senate.

I have always strongly believed that decisions about pregnancy and parenting should be between a woman and her doctor — and no one else. I have stood up to defend this right since I was first elected. The Washington Post recently referred to me as “the single most effective Democratic combatant against Republican attempts to restrict abortion” – and that’s a distinction I’ll gladly keep fighting to live up to.

John, as long as I’m in the U.S. Senate, I promise to be at the forefront of the fight for abortion rights. But I’m up for reelection this fall and I need your support. Will you split $10 between me and Cory Booker right now to help protect abortion access?
