Just weeks ago, Rodney Reed was facing execution. Now, he has another chance to prove his innocence and clear his name. But he still has a long road ahead of him.
Because Rodney is spending yet another holiday season apart from his family, we asked you to write to Rodney and the Reed family to let them know that they are not alone in their fight for justice — and you delivered!
We received thousands of messages to share with the Reed family for Thanksgiving, and we made sure Rodney received every last one.
And he wanted us to share this message with you:
I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of support. I love you. I appreciate you. This here is a family thing for me. I consider everybody fighting for me to be my family. I look forward to embracing each and every one of you when I am free.
In the coming months, Rodney and his legal team will have a hearing to present new evidence supporting his innocence and pointing to the person responsible for Stacey Stites’ murder. As we work toward that moment, Rodney, his family and his team will need your continued support.
Started in 1992 as a legal clinic at Cardozo School of Law, the Innocence Project is now an independent nonprofit, affiliated with Cardozo, that exonerates the wrongly convicted through DNA testing and reforms the criminal justice system to prevent future injustice. www.innocenceproject.org
