Patriotism to us is a love of the best ideals of our country and the people in it. Patriotism make us want to strive for achieving that more perfect union and building a better future for Americans.
"Patriotism" has been hijacked by the militia right to mean accepting violence as a means to over-throw an election, to halt the peaceful transfer of power, and a banner to bully all who do not fit their narrow vision of race, gender, language and religion.
This was a significant July 4th. The Supreme Court has radically reversed the precedent of Roe, gutted Miranda protections, made it harder to enforce environment protections for climate change and have done violence to the concept of separation of church and state.
Guns now have more rights than women in America.
But we can't lose hope!
We must continue to speak out, march, mobilize, organize, and vote for the Democratic values we hold so dear.
