John,

Last week, Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW) — the city owned gas utility — announced that it will refund customers approximately $12.4 million for excessive weather normalization adjustment charges for 270,000 customers from the month of May, with some households receiving up to $500.

As Chair of the Gas Commission, Councilmember Green helped ensure PGW made the responsible decision to correct this harmful oversight, and will continue to work with PGW to ensure this type of error can no longer happen in the city of Philadelphia.

In his leadership role, Derek’s number one priority is reducing household costs for the hard-working residents of our city — he is committed to delivering real results that impact the people of Philadelphia.

Team Green is thankful to PGW President & CEO Seth Shapiro for taking action to address the issue of these surcharges, and ensuring that this credit will be applied to customer’s July or August utility bills.

We are also thankful for your support of Councilmember Green’s efforts of building a Philadelphia that works for all. If you would like to support Derek’s vision for our city’s future, please, chip in today:
