Team,
Earlier today, Ilhan and Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley introduced legislation to end school pushout of black and brown girls.
The sad reality of our education system is that black girls face higher rates of not only suspensions and expulsions from school, but arrests, than their white peers.
These disciplinary practices criminalize black and brown girls, push them out of school, and feed the school-to-prison pipeline. Ilhan and Ayanna's Ending PUSHOUT Act would finally put an end to discriminatory, punitive school discipline policies.
Progressive reforms like this become a reality when grassroots movements like ours demand change. Will you sign on as a citizen co-sponsor of Ilhan and Ayanna's bill?

In Minneapolis, black students make up 41 percent of the student population -- but bear the brunt of the majority of school suspensions. Nationwide, black students are suspended three times as much as white students. Black and brown students are "disciplined" simply for the way they dress or style their hair. These arbitrary rules let schools get away with discrimination.
Stand up against discriminatory policies that fuel the school-to-prison pipeline. Click here to be a co-sponsor of Ilhan and Ayanna's new bill: [link removed]
