John,
It's never easy to write an email like this, but I'll get right to the point: After tallying up expenses and receipts, we came just short of our $100,000 end-of-quarter goal.
Typically, the rest of the summer is a slow period for fundraising. But we're facing establishment-backed opponents in an election in just under 7 weeks.
We're about to open our official campaign HQ, and the next few weeks will mark a rush of organizing across the new boundaries of NY-16 to connect with voters and turn folks out for Jamaal. Looking at all those expenses, it's clear we need to make up the gap from June.
I'm proud to be part of a movement that isn't bankrolled by millionaires and corporate PACs. We're people-powered, and while that means fundraising for this campaign takes a lot more work, it also keeps Jamaal only accountable to the people when he's in Congress.
I know we have what it takes to beat our corporate opponents. We did it in 2020 and we'll do it again. Whatever you can chip in right now will come at a crucial time for our movement, so we really appreciate it.
Thank you so much!
