John,

Patagonia, Argentina, is known for breathtaking mountains and wildlife.
But it's under threat because it's home to the Vaca Muerta shale formation
– one of the biggest unconventional oil and gas deposits in the world.

Last month, Argentina confirmed a new gas pipeline that will pump fracked
gas from Vaca Muerta across Argentina and abroad.

Now local politicians want to break the record for most oil produced there
in a single day,^1 which would have catastrophic consequences for not only
Argentina, but the entire world.

To stop the expansion of fracking in Vaca Muerta, we need to stop money
flowing to it. We do that by raising our voices and pressuring funders –
including U.S. banks – to stop bankrolling the biggest operator in the
region, oil giant YPF.

you stand with communities resisting fracking in Argentina by adding your
name to our petition demanding U.S. banks withdraw their support today?

To be clear, it’s not just us trying to stop this fracking. The Mapuche
Confederation – Indigenous people who have inhabited this land for
generations – want this pipeline and exploration of Vaca Muerta to be
stopped.

In April, they presented an environmental impact study which highlighted
the deadly and destructive impact fracking is having in the region.^2

To stand in solidarity with their efforts, it’s up to us to pressure our
banks to stop funding YPF.

bringing real progress, good jobs, and climate justice to communities in
Argentina. Sign our petition to the banks today if you agree.

Thank you for speaking out,
John.
