John,
My name is Tom Balanoff and I’m the President of SEIU Local 1 and the President of the SEIU Illinois State Council. The SEIU Illinois State Council represents the largest number of working families in our state , with over 150,000 members. Our organization is dedicated to winning economic, racial, immigrant, social and environmental justice for all working families across Illinois.
At SEIU, we fight to ensure that all working families, no matter their background or where they come from, across all have an equal opportunity to succeed, and build a better future for themselves and their families, particularly for their children.
We are proud to endorse Marie Newman. The working people of Illinois’ 3rd district deserve a representative who truly represents the values of that district, and that representative should be, and will be, Marie.
We are proud to be with Marie, because we know she will stand with working families and get the job done. Can you stand with us by making a $10 contribution?
Marie Newman supports raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour so every family has the opportunity to make ends meet. She supports keeping immigrant families together, protecting a woman’s right to make their own healthcare decisions, and she also supports making healthcare affordable for all working families.
SEIU is proud to join a long list of progressive organizations and leaders to endorse Marie, who will be a strong progressive voice in Washington. The janitors, healthcare workers, public employees, homecare workers, security officers, door staff of SEIU are ready to get out the vote and support her in March, and we hope to see you standing with her.
Chip in today to help us make sure we have a strong labor advocate in this seat.
In Solidarity,
Tom Balanoff
President
SEIU Local 1
