Jack,
ICYMI: Mississippi’s single abortion clinic is contesting Roe v. Wade head-on and the judge presiding over the case has issued an 8-page order allowing the near-total abortion ban to go into effect.
She said blocking the law would do "irreparable harm" to the State of Mississippi.
Governor Tate Reeves clearly agrees and continues pressing to ban all abortions. He even sidestepped a question about legalizing abortion in cases of a mother’s endangered health, rape, or incest.
Looking at Congressman Guest’s social media pages, it’s easy to see that he’s siding with Reeves.
Michael Guest’s voting record would look different if this issue focused on the life of women and children. But it’s about racking up political points instead.
Michael Guest hasn’t been able to pass real, actionable legislation that betters the lives of hardworking people in his district. And he hasn’t done anything to improve Mississippi’s awful maternal health ranking. He’s out of touch with the communities he represents.
Mississippi women deserve better. That starts by electing leaders who recognize that a woman has the sole rights to her body. And that any healthcare decisions should be made privately between her and her doctor. Full stop.
Shuwaski will face Michael Guest this November. We must continue scaling up our campaign to meet the moment and reach out to voters and pro-choice supporters. Can we count on you to chip in $25?
