Friend,

As I write this, our VOA teams are in active “heat emergency” mode across the country. The recent record-breaking heat has been difficult, and now we’re heading into the hottest part of summer. VOA is responding to elderly, homeless, and other vulnerable people with immediate relief like cooling shelters, water, and other critical support.

You and I have our ways to beat the heat, thank goodness. But when you’re facing homelessness, extreme heat is like a constant death-threat, and resources can't wait.

This year we're especially concerned by how many more people are affected by rising prices and the strained economy. VOA is rapidly upscaling our center capacities and inventories of heat emergency essentials.

I’m thankful for friends like you—aware of your community and of the small steps that make a big difference for individuals and families struggling.

Will you consider a gift for our VOA 2022 Summer Urgent Needs drive?

You know we’re there when people need help with a range of support services like feeding, shelter, job training, supportive housing, youth centers, and more. Summer takes more. Especially THIS year when prices are rising and resources must be ready. Thank you for what you can do. Many people in your community will be deeply grateful for your kindness.

Be safe and well this summer!

P.S. Any gift makes a difference, and monthly giving deepens your impact even more. For less than $2 a day, you can help provide meals and supportive housing for a low-income elderly couple. In this tough economy, many older adults are going hungry, and others can't afford their rents. VOA will be there for them, and together with you, they’ll know we are good neighbors.
