Democrats recently introduced the Transgender Bill of Rights to, among other things, add “gender identity” to the list of protected categories in the Civil Rights Act of 1964. But allowing anyone who says they identify as female into women’s spaces, such as athletic teams, sororities, domestic violence shelters, and women’s prisons, harms women.

At IWF, we are acutely aware of these risks — which is why a couple of months ago we launched the Women’s Bill of Rights to preserve single-sex spaces that are important for privacy, safety, or equal opportunity. Our Bill of Rights is better, but hey, imitation is the highest form of flattery.

HURTING NOT HELPING

The Humiliation of the Tampon Shortage

As if $5 a gallon gas, a baby formula shortage and record-high inflation weren’t stressful enough for American women, we now have another problem on our hands (or, more literally, in our pants): a tampon shortage. Nationwide, women are finding bare shelves in the feminine care aisle with no end in sight. The tampon shortage is another example of progressive policies that leave women worse off. Read more.

How To Talk About the Electoral College

The Electoral College prevents close elections from being determined by nationwide recount. Under the current system, a narrow nationwide margin of victory is irrelevant so long as the Electoral College outcome is clear. Without the Electoral College, however, close outcomes will, inevitably, become contested outcomes. Conversation Starter: Bette Midler's Twitter Kerfuffle

Actress Bette Midler published a Tweet indirectly attacking the Supreme Court decision reversing Roe v. Wade, but along the way she slammed those trying to erase the word “woman” from our vocabulary. Conservatives are celebrating Midler’s messaging because A.) they agree with it, and B.) they think Midler doesn’t know she’s criticizing her own side. There’s a bigger issue in play with Midler, and her incessant Tweeting shows the folly of the platform’s current rules.
