Hello —

Last November, North Carolina Republicans passed a heavily gerrymandered Congressional map in the state legislature — attempting to silence the voices of thousands of voters, particularly people of color, all to further their own political gain.

Thankfully, our state’s Supreme Court recognized this egregious attack on our fundamental right to vote and overturned Republicans’ gerrymandered map, ruling it unconstitutional. But this fight isn’t over yet.

The United States Supreme Court’s right-wing majority just agreed to hear Moore v. Harper, Republicans’ appeal to our state court’s ruling.

Folks, I’ll be honest: I’m deeply concerned about the outcome of this case. Should the Court choose to overrule the Supreme Court of North Carolina, our free and fair elections would be in grave danger.

State legislatures would be given unfettered authority to draw their own legislative maps and set the rules for federal elections without checks from the state courts or state constitutions. Meaning, the results of the next election could be decided before the first vote has even been cast. That’s why it’s critical that we raise our voices together and fight back.

The only folks with the power to pick our representatives should be the American people — not politicians or right-wing justices. If you agree, add your name to my petition calling on the Supreme Court to rule against partisan gerrymandering.

Thanks for signing on and making your voice heard on this critical issue.
