We’re fighting hard to protect New Yorkers in response to the recent Supreme Court rulings.

Friend,

Over the last few weeks, the Supreme Court has eviscerated New York’s concealed carry gun law, overturned Roe v. Wade, and completely neutered the ability of the federal government to address climate change. On top of that, just two days ago at a July 4th parade in Highland Park, Illinois, we experienced what is increasingly a truly American phenomenon: yet another mass shooting.

It’s hard to look at the news and the Supreme Court’s decisions and feel nothing but total despair about the future of our country. Where can we turn when the institutions of government are so obviously failing us and our national leadership is either stymied by political dysfunction or actively trying to subvert our democracy?

Friend, while the Supreme Court tries to take our country back to the 1920s, here in New York we aren’t going to sit idly by and do nothing. New York is going to lead the way to make sure we fight back.

Last week, in response to the Supreme Court’s rulings in Dobbs and Bruen cases, the State Legislature gaveled back into session and passed one of the strongest concealed carry laws in the country and advanced the Equality Amendment to enshrine sex, gender, and pregnancy protections into our state constitution.

We still have more work to do. It’s never been more clear than now just how important state governments will be in the fight to protect people’s fundamental rights, defend their bodily autonomy, and ensure that everyone can live safely and freely.

Friend, I want you to know that I am committed to this fight with everything I have. If Washington won’t act, Albany must. But I can’t do this without you.

Our primary is just 48 days away, and I need your help. Sign up to volunteer. Chip in a few bucks if you are able. Talk to your friends and neighbors in our new district to help get out the vote.

Thank you so much for all your support. I know times are hard and it's easy to feel despondent. But we can’t stop fighting together for the state and country we know we ought to have.

In the fight,

Andrew
