Dear Mr. xxxxxx,
Following what I hope was a patriotic Independence Day Weekend, I wanted to pass along my latest update on what I have been doing to represent you, Texas’ 21st Congressional district, and our country as a whole:
Last week, I demanded accountability from the Department of Veteran Affairs regarding a VA employee brutally beating and choking a 73-year-old Vietnam veteran that surfaced earlier this month. The day I sent this letter, the VA finally suspended the employee in question.
On Friday, I urged the House and Senate leaders of the Veterans Affairs Committee to amend the current version of the PACT Act to offset the legislation’s high cost and prevent it from increasing treatment backlogs for veterans already awaiting care. As it currently stands, the most recent draft of the PACT Act adds as much as 680 billion dollars to federal debt, money we do not have with a national debt hovering around 30 trillion dollars. I requested that these concerns be addressed before floor consideration, so that we are able to deliver benefits veterans need without threatening their care or our nation’s future.
I also joined America Reports on Fox News to react to the Supreme Court’s decision to allow the Biden Administration to end “Remain in Mexico” policy below.
