Send a letter to Governor Cooper

John,

A new bill just passed the General Assembly that would make it easier for concealed carry permit holders to avoid taking firearms safety training to renew their permits.

Our only hope is for Governor Cooper to issue a veto to prevent this unneeded bill from becoming law. It is disappointing that this General Assembly continues to try and weaken our concealed carry permitting system. 2020 was the most violent year of the 21st century. It is unconscionable that they are trying to do this now.

This bill is unnecessary and dangerous, and we must stand together to stop it from becoming state law. Send a message right now to Governor Cooper to veto House Bill 49 and stop this new conceal carry permit rule in its tracks.

Pro-gun lobbyist groups would have you believe that this law is necessary, but what it actually does is keep concealed firearms in the hands of untrained civilians. Is it really too much to ask that individuals permitted to carry concealed handguns undergo the most basic retraining every five years to prove they remain capable of safely handling a firearm?

Send a note to Governor Cooper and ask him to block this dangerous bill as soon as possible.

Together in this fight,
Becky
