John,

On Monday, a gunman opened fire on the Highland Park, Illinois, 4th of July parade, killing at least six people. To everyone who lost loved ones yesterday, I am so sorry.

We’re all beyond sick of this. Mass shootings have become commonplace in today’s America. We’ve seen that Americans can’t feel safe at grocery stores, schools, and now neighborhood parades.

America’s government failed the people of Highland Park on the Fourth of July. A democracy that cannot serve its people and protect families at a community gathering is not functioning properly.

The upcoming election in November is now crucial for the future of American democracy. We need leaders who represent everyone, not just one segment of the community. Max Miller is running to serve Donald Trump and the far right. I’m running to serve every member of our community.

On Monday, our campaign attended the Parma, Ohio 4th of July parade, where we spoke with community members about what they want to see from their leaders. Our campaign far outperformed Max Miller’s campaign at the parade because unlike Max, we’re able to speak to Ohioans from all backgrounds.

Our campaign’s mission is to highlight how we can bridge the divide and address the real issues facing our nation. In Congress, I will enact popular, common sense gun reforms that will ensure Americans feel safe in public places. Max Miller won’t do anything that President Trump and the far right don’t approve of.

The choice is clear. Pitch in here to help us win this November.

Sincerely,

Matthew Diemer
