And this was written BEFORE the Supreme Court decided to hear a case about a radical theory that could hand redistricting and election power to state legislatures.

We’ve been saying this for years: Winning the fight for fair maps is going to be critical to making progress on every single issue Democrats care about, including abortion rights.

That’s because gerrymandering their way into near-unbreakable majorities has allowed the GOP to straight up ignore public opinion on every issue under the sun, with very little fear of consequences at the polls. After all, if a majority of statewide voters can choose Democratic candidates and the GOP still ends up controlling the legislature, what do they have to lose?

This stark reality is exactly why it’s so important that we invest in the highly-contested races on our list of democracy targets this November. We’re targeting races in 17 states, and we’re working to help pro-choice, pro-fair-maps candidates win in all of them.
