NEW | School Board Resources
Check out WILL’s newest resource – Model School Board Policies! Over the last two years, many parents and community members have run for office and won elections for school board. But once they are on the board, it is difficult to determine how best to discuss and implement policies that empower parents and create an environment of transparency. WILL’s Restoring American Education initiative is the answer to that challenge.

VICTORY | Oconomowoc Area School District Backs Down on Legal Threat
The Oconomowoc Area School District (OASD) announced that despite issuing a cease-and-desist letter threatening a defamation lawsuit to local parent and activist, Alexandra Schweitzer, the District now considers the “issue closed.” WILL sent a letter to OASD attorneys in mid-June, on behalf of Ms. Schweitzer, explaining that her public statements do not meet the legal standard for defamation and that her speech is protected by the First Amendment. The OASD statement indicates there will be no forthcoming legal action against Ms. Schweitzer.

OPINION | Wisconsin Democrats Abandon the Rule of Law to Protect Abortion
WILL President and General Counsel, Rick Esenberg, wrote in National Review on statements made by Governor Evers and Attorney General Kaul that explicitly violate their oaths of office to not enforce a statute that prohibits most abortions. Esenberg writes, "In categorically promising to excuse all violations of this particular law, Evers has arrogated to himself the power to rescind it. On abortion, he believes himself to be not only governor but judge and lawmaker."
