In 185 days this year, there have been 313 mass shootings and 22,418 deaths from gun violence, including the mass shooting at a July 4th parade in Highland Park, Illinois.

Why?

Because Republicans in Congress care more about cold hard cash from gun lobbyists and appeasing extremists than keeping our communities and families safe from gun violence.

They sold us out. Now, we must demand bold change.

In New York, we have the 2nd lowest rate of gun deaths in the United States. It’s no coincidence that we also have some of the strongest gun reform laws in the country.

But here’s the bad news, John xxxxxx. Now they’re coming for our protections.

This is a victory for the NRA and gun lobbyists, and a massive loss for our public safety and ability to protect our communities from mass shootings and gun violence like we witnessed yesterday.

We need national gun safety reform like universal background checks, red flag laws, an assault weapons and ghost guns ban, national licensing, safe storage laws, and more safety training.

When we win this race for NY-03, I will fight to pass these commonsense reforms to save lives from gun violence, but we can’t wait until then. We need Congress to act NOW.
