The Story

Sanders, who has blasted corporations for paying “starvation wages,” did exactly what many businesses do when they are forced to pay $15 an hour minimum wage and can’t afford it: he cut the hours of staffers.

In Short

Sanders had an opportunity to learn a capitalist lesson: you can mandate anything you want, but you can't do it without making cuts elsewhere if the resources are not there.

** Recent Court Rulings May Signal Return to Due Process in Campus Sexual Accusation Cases
------------------------------------------------------------
The Story

A Purdue University student was found guilty of sexual assault after a hearing that his anonymous accuser did not even attend. However, a lower court dismissed the case. KC Johnson, a champion of due process on campus, points out safeguards for the accused are routine and part of our system of justice.

In Short

Education Secretary Betsy DeVos’ proposed guidelines for dealing with such accusations on campus--which have been attacked by activist groups--include due process predictions. Several lawsuits have been decided recently that uphold the due process rights for accused students. This may signal the return to due process.
