Republicans are at each other’s throats over Governor Kemp’s decision to appoint Kelly Loeffler in defiance of Donald Trump and his core supporters. While Trump is desperate for more yes-men in the United States Senate, the reality for Republicans on the ground in Georgia is dire.
Kemp knows the only hope of retaining both of Georgia’s U.S. Senate seats is with a virtue-signaling appointment of a candidate with the personal wealth to finance their own race. That person is Kelly Loeffler.
To be blunt, white college-educated women are rejecting the Trump-Republican agenda in droves – even more so since Kemp’s election last year. Loeffler’s appointment is a cynical political attempt to continue Republican domination that has given Georgia healthcare insecurity, tariff wars on our own farmers, runaway deficits, and incompetent leadership at the federal level that can’t even manage to effectuate federal emergency disaster relief in the wake of Hurricane Michael.
Kelly Loeffler will spend $20 million on her special election, allowing the National Republican Senatorial Committee, Super PACs, and Republican megadonors to continue pouring money into our race to defeat David Perdue. We have to respond today – rush in a donation before midnight to say you won’t allow Republicans to buy Georgia’s Senate seats.
