Rubio claims his plan would provide paid leave to new parents, but that’s a lie. New parents would pay for the leave themselves through a reduction in their future Social Security benefits—including covering decades of interest!¹

Supporters of Rubio’s plan admit that it’s a first step towards privatizing Social Security, which would destroy the program by handing it over to Wall Street.²

Marco Rubio is at it again.

Rubio is using the Supreme Court’s disgraceful decision to repeal Roe v. Wade to push his favorite scheme to cut Social Security—a so-called “paid leave” plan which new parents actually have to pay for themselves, through a reduction in their future Social Security benefits.

In other words, Rubio would force new parents to choose between caring for their loved ones today and enjoying a secure retirement in the future. No one should have to choose between paid leave and Social Security!

Instead of Rubio’s scheme, new parents need real paid leave. And anyone seeking an abortion should be able to get one. Rubio doesn’t support either of those things—but his opponent, Val Demings, does.
