1) Does The Left Hate America?

We are almost always reluctant to challenge someone’s patriotism, but the antics of “woke” liberals over this past Fourth of July weekend has us wondering.

Start with the pols in the city of Orlando, who sent out a derisive message on its fireworks display focusing on all the reasons people should NOT come.

Then there was the Pima County (Tucson) Democratic Party, which retweeted a graphic advertising a July 4th feminist event (in the interest of good taste, we've edited out three letters of the first word from the graphics.)

The offensive tweet has since been deleted.

Then there is Mandela Barnes, Wisconsin’s Lt. Governor and the frontrunner for the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate this year. He was caught telling a radio show that: "The founding of this nation? Awful," Barnes added that Americans must do everything possible to repair the harms of slavery and colonization, the impacts of which "are felt today."

What an inspiring message to celebrate the birth of our nation.

2) Even With Record Inflation, Congress STILL Wants To Spend Billions More!
Biden and the Democrats STILL haven’t given up on their dreams of a slimmed-down version of “Build Back Better.” Now they are looking at a price tag of a cool $1 trillion in taxes, spending, and price controls. There is even talk of a new carbon tax in the BBB bill. Only in Washington would $1,000,000,000 be considered pint-sized.

In addition to that, both parties are behind an absurd last big-ticket bill called the “Bipartisan Innovation Act,” or “China bill” as it is called. It would give $50 billion to the semiconductor industry to produce microchips. We’d prefer if Intel were simply required to go door to door across the country with tin cups in hand and ask Americans for a $50 donation. Most Americans would slam the door in their face.

The absurd logic here is to defeat Chinese central economic planning with more government-directed central planning here in the United States.

This bill is drenched with “woke” ideology, including, believe it or not, funding for a “diversity directorate” within the National Science Foundation while the House bill parcels out billions to a U.N. climate fund.

Now Dems are in a snit because Mitch McConnell won’t let the China bill pass if Dems insist on any version of Build Back Better. See his tweet below.

We have a better idea. CUT government spending and stop feeding the beast.

3) California’s Gavin Newsom Pleads With Americans To STOP Going To Florida
You’ve got to love the latest move by California Gov. Gavin Newsom who is spending $105,000 on ads in faraway Florida with claims that "Freedom is under attack in your state.”

Newsom accuses Florida’s Gov. Ron DeSantis of banning books, voter suppression, and abortion crackdowns. "Don't let them take your freedom."

"We're as different," Newsom told reporters in explaining the ad, "as daylight and darkness.” Never mind that Californians are flocking to red states like Florida week after week after week. Never mind that California leads the nation in homelessness, high taxes, and business losses. When’s the last time you heard about a business moving TO California?

We have no objection to Gavin Newsom promoting his state in Florida. GOP governors advertise their states in California all the time. Competition between the states is a very healthy thing. We like federalism.

What we find comical is the part about Florida being in “darkness.” Actually, Governor, it is California that can’t keep the lights on because of rolling brownouts, thanks to your radical green energy policies.

Actor Rob Schneider also had a brilliant response to the California fairy tale:

Since he was elected in 2018, Newsom has presided over a state with the highest poverty rate in the nation, a soaring crime rate, fleeing businesses, falling population, and utility brownouts. California’s budget per capita is 50 percent larger than Florida’s, but the quality of its services is clearly worse.

PowerLineBlog.com relishes the contrast between the competing visions of Newsom and DeSantis: “So let’s make the 2024 presidential election a referendum on blue state vs. red state policies. We know how that election would turn out. All we have to do is look at how Americans are already voting with their feet.”
