Impactful Visit to Poland with EUROPEAN PARLIAMENTARIANS | |
Carole Nuriel, Senior Director for International Government and Community Engagement, and Andrew Srulevitch, Director of European Affairs, joined a delegation of Members of European Parliament from the centrist Renew Europe political group in Krakow, Poland. After an intense and emotional visit to the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp, the delegation met with Poland's Chief Rabbi Michael Schudrich and Hillel Poland president Magda Dorozh to discuss the revival of the Polish Jewish community. The delegation also paid an inspiring visit to the JCC Krakow to see the growing Jewish community in action, as it supported Ukrainian refugees with food donations and worked to arrange housing for new
arrivals.

ADL Welcomes Resolution of Ice Cream Company’s Settlement Boycott | |
ADL welcomed the decision by Unilever to resume selling Ben and Jerry’s ice cream throughout Israel and the West Bank. CEO Jonathan Greenblatt issued the following statement:
“I am so pleased that Unilever has found a solution that ensures that Ben & Jerry's ice cream will continue to be scooped to Israelis and Palestinians for years to come. For the past several months, ADL has been in touch with Unilever, the Government of Israel, and others to correct the misguided move by Ben and Jerry's independent leadership to pull out of areas in the West Bank. Today is yet another demonstration of the ineffectiveness of trying to boycott and ostracize Israel -- and proves that healing can happen when all sides work together.”

ADL-Volkswagen Partnership is Extended | |
ADL and Volkswagen announced they were extending their partnership, which focuses on addressing antisemitism and hate in Europe and across the world. The collaboration has enabled ADL to expand its work in Europe, and will enable to conduct additional polling on antisemitic attitudes as part of ADL’s Global 100 polling series.
Jonathan Greenblatt said in a statement: “The VW Group has been a valued partner in our efforts to educate about the dangers of antisemitism in Germany, as well as our efforts to document and respond to antisemitism as it happens around the world. We commend them for their commitment to continue to support this important work at a time when antisemitism is rising.”

Sharon Nazarian Departs from ADL Role | |
Sharon Nazarian, ADL’s SVP for International Affairs, announced her departure from ADL after five years with the organization. Sharon will return to serve full-time as president of the Younes & Soraya Nazarian Family Foundation, which funds Israel education in the United States, and focuses on education and public policy more broadly.

Israel and the Middle East
|
ADL condemned the Presbyterian Church USA’s International Engagement Committee for passaging a resolution that falsely labels Israel as an apartheid state and compares Israel’s treatment of Palestinians to the Holocaust, and called on the PCUSA General Assembly to reject the resolution.
ADL criticized the report issued by the UN Human Rights Council Commission of Inquiry which blamed Israel for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict while largely ignoring Palestinian actions.

The antisemitic Mapping Project, which falsely claims the New England Jewish community is working in concert to promote a sinister agenda, was endorsed by the terrorist group the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and the Iranian regime’s foreign media arm PressTV.
ADL welcomed the Israeli Knesset’s adoption of the IHRA definition of antisemitism, and congratulated Israel on being elected to serve as the IHRA president in 20205.
ADL congratulated Doron Almog on being elected as the next Chairman of the Jewish Agency.
ADL mourned the passing of literary icon AB Yehoshua, an Israeli social and political activist whose works explored topics such as Zionism and Jewish identity.
ADL said it was appalled by the hateful graffiti spray-painted on the Holocaust museum on Mt. Zion in Jerusalem which compares Zionists to Nazis.
In an op-ed about Iraqi efforts to legislate anti-Israel and antisemitic prejudice, Sharon Nazarian and Aykan Erdemir, Director of International Affairs Research, wrote that “Baghdad’s move to legislate anti-Israel and antisemitic bigotry poses a stark contrast to the visionary steps four Arab states – Bahrain, Morocco, Sudan, and the United Arab Emirates – have taken since 2020 to normalize relations with Israel as part of the Abraham Accords.”

ADL’s Task Force on Middle Eastern Minorities held its annual gathering in Washington, DC to discuss challenges related to persecuted religious and ethnic minorities in the Middle East. Their itinerary included several meetings with US officials, including with Ambassador Deborah Lipstadt, the US Special Envoy on Global Antisemitism. |
In response to antisemitic displays at the documenta 15 art exhibition in Germany, ADL wrote to the German Culture Minister expressing concern that no action was taken to prevent the display, despite prior warnings from the German Jewish community.
Andrew Srulevitch joined a delegation of the International Jewish Committee on Interreligious Consultations (IJCIC) to the Holy See, where they met with several senior Vatican officials to discuss Jewish-Catholic relations. While in Rome, Andrew also met with Uriel Perugia, Secretary-General of the Union of Italian Jewish Communities.
In response to the Catalonian government’s labeling of Israel as an apartheid state, ADL said the government has disgraced itself and demonstrated its lack of knowledge about Israel and the Palestinian situation.
ADL welcomed Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi's commitment to combatting antisemitism.
ADL welcomed the Swedish government’s appointment of a special investigator to assess the conditions of Jewish life in Sweden.
Following a Russian attack on a Kiev shopping center, ADL said it remained horrified by Russia's ongoing brutality in Ukraine and attacks on civilian targets throughout the country, and called on the international community to continue using its leverage towards ending Putin's unjustified war.
ADL condemned an alleged terror attack at an LGBTQ+ bar in Oslo, Norway.

Carole Nuriel participated at an event in Geneva – organized by the Israeli Mission to Geneva, the Swedish Mission and the World Jewish Congress - focused on the eight-step plan for governments to fight antisemitism, presented by Ahmed Shaheed, UN Special Envoy of Freedom of Religion and Belief. In her remarks, Carole shared highlights from ADL’s COMBAT plan, a comprehensive, six-part framework for elected officials and policymakers to take meaningful action to fight antisemitism to fight antisemitism. The event was well attended by member states.
