Friend, did you see our CEO Mary Creasman’s recent Op-Ed in the Sacramento Bee?

Mary wrote about how California’s elected officials are actually considering investing in fossil fuels. Can you believe it?

Right now, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) is developing the 2022 Scoping Plan, the state’ blueprint to achieve carbon neutrality. Unfortunately, CARB is planning to incorporate something called “carbon capture” in its plans. Carbon capture is a greenwashing effort by the fossil fuel industry that would further delay climate action, extend fossil fuel use, and increase oil production.

Here’s where it gets even more interesting.

CARB is using research from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, a Bay Area-based federal research lab — and the LA Times is reporting that the lab’s research on carbon capture was funded by a dark-money group connected to an out-of-state energy company that would financially benefit from the promotion of this technology!!!

This is what we’re up against, friend. Corporate polluters will do whatever it takes to delay climate action, including influencing research a state agency is using to plan our future. Will you chip in a few dollars to help us fight back and push for a rapid transition to clean energy in California?

The Scoping Plan should be an ambitious roadmap for California to once again become a global leader on climate action by meeting its 2030 emissions target and achieving carbon neutrality no later than 2045.

We CANNOT allow the Scoping Plan to become a piggy bank for corporate polluters to continue to delay climate action.

That’s the kind of work EnviroVoters is fighting against in our efforts to solve the climate crisis. We’re pushing for a stronger, more ambitious Scoping Plan. We’re in constant contact with legislators trying to get our priority climate bills passed. And we’re building power up and down the state to elect climate champions this November.

But we need your help to accomplish all of these goals.

Please, make a donation of any amount (even a few dollars) to support our efforts to solve the climate crisis and hold corporate polluters accountable >>

Thank you, as always, for your support.
