Dear John,
The last couple of weeks have been busy. I wanted to share some updates with you about what I’ve been doing in Congress:
-
I’ve secured funding to improve infrastructure right here in Georgia’s 2nd Congressional District. I secured funding for Colquitt and Leesburg water infrastructure projects to ensure that our waste and water infrastructure is keeping our environment and water clean. I also supported funding for Homeland Security to ensure that our country’s land, sea, and air borders are protected from attacks, crime, accidents, and natural disasters. Within this, I secured direct funding for Miller County’s Emergency Operations Center so they can improve operations and public safety.
-
I also secured funding for resources for the constituents of Georgia’s 2nd Congressional District. I secured funding for health care and workforce training across Middle and Southwest Georgia to help make health care more affordable and our economy easier to participate in. I also fought hard to secure funding for the Columbus State University and Muscogee County School District STEAM Collaboration Center, Mt. Olive Community Outreach Center, Inc., and the Boys and Girls Club. All of these will work toward improving our communities by providing learning opportunities, affordable housing, and support for our youth.
-
I voted for legislation on safe gun ownership and mental health. I supported the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, which is an important step forward that will work to make our schools, streets, and communities safer from gun violence. I also supported the Restoring Hope for Mental Health and Well-Being Act, a bipartisan legislative package that will expand access to mental health resources for veterans, students, and working families.
In doing all of this, I am striving to make our communities safer and better for everyone. To support me in this work, please consider making a contribution to my re-election campaign.
Thank you,
Congressman Sanford D. Bishop
