John,
This morningβs New York Times newsletter had a great analysis of this yearβs battle for control of the Senate, and we wanted to quickly show you a few highlights that really reinforce our opinion that expanding our Senate majority in November is not only possible, but necessary.

This is good news, folks β at least 7 out of 10 competitive seats are within reach for Democrats (we actually think itβs more than that, but weβll get to that in a minute). Winning all 7 would expand our majority by 2 seats, allowing us to end the filibuster, add several seats to the Supreme Court, and start taking back our civil rights!
This isnβt a pipe dream β the Republicans have actually helped us out by nominating some of the worst candidates weβve seen in years . Check out what the Times has to say about it:

βMotley collection of candidatesβ is an understatement β the Republican slate is an utter clown show . This might make it a little easier to beat them come November β¦ but at the same time, itβs exactly why we MUST beat them β because none of these clowns belong anywhere near the halls of power!
Take a look:

So, this is what weβre up against: An open racist, a hypocritical deadbeat dad with a history of domestic abuse and fraud, a carpetbagging reality TV quack, a forced-birther, and a participant in the deadly January 6 attempt to overthrow our democratically-elected government.
But wait, thereβs more!

If you donβt remember the Eric Greitens scandal, he resigned in disgrace as Missouriβs governor after credible accusations of sexual assault and blackmail, plus a pile of campaign finance law violations resulting in felony charges. His ex-wife has also accused him of physically abusing her and their preschool-age son and said that steps were taken to restrict his access to firearms because of the abuse.
Eric Greitens, by the way, is also the candidate who produced the infamous βRINO huntingβ ad encouraging people to βhuntβ Republicans who arenβt as extreme as he is:

So, yeah, none of these people belong anywhere near the U.S. Senate.
In a sane world, the fact that these Republican candidates are so terrible should make November a cakewalk. But this is still the same country that elected Donald Trump, so weβre not taking any chances.
The fact is, Donald Trump won in 2016 by playing the numbers game better than our side did, and we won in 2020 by playing the numbers game better than his side did. Remember, most elections are won or lost by a very specific group of voters β the persuadable, motivated middle.
By that, we mean that thereβs a certain number of voters on each side of the aisle who ALWAYS vote, and ALWAYS vote a straight party ticket. Theyβre not persuadable by the other side. Itβs pointless to spend resources trying to win them over.
But there are also large numbers of voters who either donβt always vote, or donβt always vote for the same party β¦ and these are the voters we need to reach, persuade, and motivate.
Thatβs what we did so well in 2020, especially in states like Georgia, and itβs what we intend to do again, with your help, in 2022.
Please, chip in what you can today to help us persuade and motivate this key voting bloc in battleground states and expand our Senate majority by flipping Americaβs Heartland blue! [[link removed]]
