Dear John,

The Supreme Court’s decision to limit the power of our government to regulate greenhouse-gas emissions is catastrophic in our fight against the climate crisis. Our message must be loud and clear: this is no time to slow down and deregulate a fossil fuel industry that continues to profit off of climate disaster.  Join us and send a message to Congress: The Supreme Court has just derailed our response to the climate crisis. It’s time to step up!

The federal government has played a critical role in ensuring a baseline of environmental protection and justice across the country. This decision threatens those protections. Tell Congress that we won’t let the Supreme Court curtail decades of work to protect the communities that are suffering from heat waves, drought, hurricanes, and more.

The moment calls for decisive leadership from New York. Governor Hochul and Mayor Adams must realize the vision of critical climate and jobs policies that ALIGN helped win. At the state level, we must fully implement and fund the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act. And in NYC, we are calling for an equitable implementation of Local Law 97 to cut dangerous building emissions and create green, union jobs. Congress can look to New York as a model to scale climate action at the level necessary to create healthier communities and a sustainable future for this entire country. They must act now.

In Solidarity,

Martiza Silva-Farrell
