We want to keep you up-to-date on Jared’s work advocating for Mainers and breaking through partisan gridlock in Congress, so here is just some of what Rep. Golden has been working on since our last newsletter.

SUPPORTING THE WABANAKI TRIBES:
Earlier this year, Jared worked with tribal leaders to introduce the Advancing Equality for Wabanaki Nations Act, which would begin to help put the Wabanaki tribes in Maine on a more level playing field with other federally-recognized tribes in the country. Recently, the bill received a bipartisan vote in the House Natural Resources Committee, an important step in moving this bill forward.

DENYING TAX CREDITS TO COMPANIES THAT PAY TAXES TO RUSSIA:
Last month, Jared, along with the bipartisan members of the For Country Caucus, introduced legislation that would deny Foreign Tax Credits and other tax benefits to companies that pay taxes to Russia. The Support Ukraine Through Our Tax Code Act aims to hold accountable corporations, trusts, partnerships, estates, and people who continue to do business in Russia, and therefore contribute to its war effort through tax payments.

REDUCING FOREIGN INFLUENCE IN OUR POLITICS:
Last month, Jared introduced the Fighting Foreign Influence Act to require think tanks and non-profits to publicly disclose large gifts from foreign governments or political parties, impose a lifetime ban on lobbying for a foreign principal for government officials, and require political campaigns to verify that anyone making an online contribution has either a U.S. address or is otherwise legally eligible to make a campaign contribution.
