The government is urging residents to ration air conditioning and turn off lights and power switches to help with the country’s struggles with power shortages. As temperatures reach 104 degrees Fahrenheit in some regions, experts warn that these record-breaking readings could continue for weeks.

The Supreme Court issued its final ruling of the term on Thursday which upheld the Biden administration’s efforts to terminate the Trump-era Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP), also known as the “Remain in Mexico” policy.

Known as Biden v. Texas, the case concerned the MPP which took effect in January 2019 under the Trump administration. It required non-Mexican nationals arriving by land at the U.S.-Mexico border to remain in Mexico while they await the results of their removal proceedings, and included a diplomatic agreement with Mexico, which said it would help implement it.

The Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the U.S. Capitol held three public hearings over the last week.

Cassidy Hutchinson, who was an aide to White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, testified that Trump was angry at the Secret Service for requiring supporters at his rally on the Ellipse to go through magnetometers and be screened for weapons.
