I hope you had a great time celebrating our freedom and independence.

Independence Day is as great a time as any to pause for a moment and tell you WHY - even though my legs were left on a battlefield in Afghanistan - I still choose to wake up every morning ready to fight for this country…

…and why the support of patriots like you is CRITICAL for helping this fight go get leadership that puts the United States of America FIRST!
Many of you know my story…

When I was serving as a bomb technician while deployed in Afghanistan, my job was detecting and disposing of the war’s most deadly weapon: the improvised explosive device (IED). This meant literally placing my life in the line of fire on every single mission.

That led to my very last mission turning nearly fatal when a Taliban IED detonated directly beneath me while I was clearing a path for my fellow soldiers, taking both of my legs and one of my fingers, but by the grace of God, not my life.

Waking up days later in Walter Reed Hospital - with two gaping holes where my legs used to be - I could have given up right then and there.
But that’s when my father gave me some advice I will never forget. He told me to get up off my butt and not let my son see me feeling sorry for myself.

So, I learned to walk again, went through hours of grueling physical therapy every single day, graduated college, worked in counter terrorism, and eventually was elected by the great people of Florida to serve as a Republican in the House of Representatives.

What drove me to keep fighting and inspired me to serve in the first place? Probably a sentiment you can relate with: I believe the United States of America is the greatest country on Earth.

I was proud to pledge my life in defense of this country, and I will continue to place service to America before myself in Congress - especially during this pivotal moment in history.

Just like on the battlefield, though, I’m going to need a team. In the most important midterm election we have ever faced as a nation, I need fellow warriors who will help me defend our freedom from Radical Left politicians who are trying to take our rights away.

So, the next mission for the United States of America starts RIGHT NOW. Will you join me to ensure we save our country this November?
Thank you for your support and patriotism!
In service,
SSG Brian Mast, U.S. Army (ret.)
