John, It happened again yesterday, mass murder by a lunatic with a weapons he should've neer had, and I'm sickened by the images. This time Highland Park, IL, was the scene of overturned baby strollers, folded chairs and bicycles, flanked by blood-soaked pavement, as parade goers trying to celebrate our nation's birthday instead ran for their lives to escape a crazed killer with an AR-15. Six dead, who will never get to celebrate another July 4th with their families. It honestly makes me feel ill. The predictable, the horrifying, never-ending assault on our freedom to live and assemble freely continued unabated, because an out-of-control Supreme Court stocked with right-wingers in robes and a Senate where living ghoul Mitch McConnell won't allow votes on universal background checks, red flag laws and an assault weapons ban. Catherine Cortez Masto, Senator from Nevada, has co-sponsored a universal background checks bill and a high-capacity magazine ban--i.e. the ridiculous firepower murderers have access to when they get a magazine with 20, 50, 100 bullets. We can only pass these if we keep her in the Senate and add 2-4 more Senators who will vote for these common sense measures that will lessen our plague of gun violence by up to 70%.
