Supreme Court Unwisely Lets Biden End Program Making Illegal Aliens Remain
in Mexico <[link removed]> – As the U.S. southern border is being overrun with record numbers of illegal aliens month after month <[link removed]>, the U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday approved the Biden administration’s termination of the successful Remain in Mexico program <[link removed]>in a 5-4 decision <[link removed]> by
Chief Justice John Roberts and joined by Justices Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, and Brett Kavanaugh. The decision will further aggravate a dire border crisis <[link removed]>, created by the administration’s open-border policies. The Remain in Mexico program (formally known as the Migration Protection Protocols) was implemented by the Trump administration in early 2019 to stop the caravans of illegal aliens who were coming to our border, claiming a fear of returning to their home country, and getting released into the U.S., often never to be seen again. Why Sweden and Finland Joining NATO Makes Perfect Sense <[link removed]> – In short, the Nordics know that joining NATO makes the alliance a much more valuable partner for the U.S. That makes it even more likely that the American commitment will remain strong and resilient, and that is the best security insurance policy they could ask for. Rarely is there a clear win-win in geopolitics. But Sweden and Finland have found a deal that is good for them, good for NATO and good for the U.S. Heritage Expert: James Carafano <[link removed]>
Supreme Court was right to block the EPA’s unconstitutional power grab <[link removed]>
– President Joe Biden has pledged to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50-52% by 2030. My colleagues at The Heritage Foundation estimate that taking the steps needed to make such drastic reductions would result in nearly 8 million lost jobs in 2026, a 90 percent increase in gasoline prices, and a more than $7 trillion hit to the economy. That’s vast economic significance, indeed. And it’s why the “elephant” of carbon capping policy should be debated by Congress, not advanced through rulemaking by unaccountable bureaucrats. In fact, carbon reductions have been debated repeatedly – and always rejected, including in 2006 and 2010. Some are not happy with that result, but their dissatisfaction should motivate them to persuade their neighbors of the wisdom of their policy. Now, thanks to the West Virginia v. EPA decision, Biden’s climate plans and the inevitable trade-offs can be examined through hearings and a robust debate by representatives who are accountable to the people. A Marxist ‘Hurricane’ Threatens the Western Hemisphere <[link removed]> - The ongoing Marxist takeover
of Latin America netted its biggest prize so far this month when Colombia elected a former terrorist as president. This onslaught, long in the making, threatens our national security and is peaking when we can least afford it — at a time of nonexistent leadership in Washington. Gustavo Petro, a former M-19 guerrilla and controversial Bogota mayor, now leads this key U.S. regional ally, following a narrow victory — he won 50.48 percent of the vote — over populist candidate Rodolfo Hernandez on June 19. Fox in the henhouse: Biden's new Title IX rule puts women in danger <[link removed]> - Conservatives have had plenty to celebrate recently: the end of Roe v. Wade, the reinforcement of the Second Amendment and the triumphs for the free exercise of religion, free speech and school choice. But not all is on the right track. On its 50th anniversary, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 — the pinnacle achievement of sex equality in education — took a massive hit. Even as the Supreme Court delivered landmark opinion upon landmark opinion, the U.S. Department of Education issued a new rule on Title IX redefining “women” and proposing to undo many of the law’s successes. Violence, and Calls for It, Increase Post-Roe. Will Authorities Take This Seriously? <[link removed]> - Federal, state, and local authorities need to enforce the law. Protesters at the justices’ houses must be prosecuted. This song and dance in which protesters can harass Supreme Court justices and their neighbors needs to end. Next, the authorities must protect crisis pregnancy centers. The radical left has made it clear it’s targeting these centers, so they deserve a reprieve from the siege. Biden’s Executive Actions on Food Stamps, Obamacare, Student Loans Will Balloon Deficit, CBO
Says <[link removed]> - A letter from the Congressional Budget Office in response to an inquiry by a Republican congressman from Missouri confirms that the Biden administration’s executive actions will increase cost to federal taxpayers and fuel rising deficits. The response to Rep. Jason Smith from the CBO highlights three major actions taken by the Biden administration—on food stamps, the Affordable Care Act subsidies, and student loans—and quantifies the cost associated with those actions. In all three cases, the Biden administration has taken questionable administrative actions to advance its big government agenda and a real cost to taxpayers.
