Movie & Discussion: Amazon Workers in Motion

By all accounts, the just-concluded 2022 Labor Notes in Chicago was electrifying on many, many fronts. Come get a taste this Wednesday, July 6th from 6:30-8:30pm, when Sac DSA's Labor Committee screens video of the amazing conference panel "Amazon Workers in Motion" with organizers from Amazonians United in Chicago, Amazon Labor Union on Staten Island, RWDSU in Bessemer, Alabama, & Carolina Amazonians United for Solidarity and Empowerment.  Let's discuss implications for local organizing here in Sac.

Location: Southside Park Cohousing, 434 T Street, Sac.

Event outdoors; bathroom indoors (mask required indoors)

All wheelchair accessible.

All chapter members invited!

Electoral Committee Update

Important news! The new Chair of the Electoral Committee is Lillian Goulston! The next Electoral Committee meeting will be looking at this year's ballot measures now that the deadline to submit has closed, so if anyone wants to help out, their next meeting is 7/24! Zoom Registration link is at the bottom of the newsletter in the "Upcoming Committee Meetings".

National DSA Protect Abortion Training: Part 1

Our bodies, our lives, our rights, and our democracy are on the line as the ruling class seeks to control our reproductive labor and outlaws abortion. As socialists, we know this is but their first step and we are not the only ones in their sights. We know a mass movement is the only thing that can save us. And we know only we, the people, can build that movement.

This is the first of a two-part training series. The first call will be an overview of the legal and political landscape and an introduction to tools for assessing your own community and state: who has power and where does it come from, who is active on this issue both allies and opponents, etc. The second call will be an interactive workshop to help you develop a long-term organizing strategy and campaign tailored to your unique conditions and therefore more likely to succeed.

Monday, July 11th at 8 PM ET / 7 PM CT / 6 PM MT / 5 PM PT

Join the Racial Solidarity Committee Reading Group!

National DSA Labor Survey

This year, we have seen incredible energy in the labor movement as workers continue to demand power at work. DSA members throughout the country have been on the frontlines of important labor battles, as well as standing shoulder to shoulder with workers in struggle. To continue this important work, it’s imperative that we understand the labor participation of DSA members in order to connect workers in the same industry to each other, build strong militant causes in existing unions, help workers organize new shops, and more. That is why National DSA Labor Committee is asking you to fill out their big 2022 Labor Membership Survey. 🌹

If you fill out this survey form, you will automatically be entered into a sweepstakes for some amazing union merch and prizes! Winners will be announced once the survey closes. The survey will run from June 27 through July 22, so don't forget to tell your fellow comrades to fill out the survey for a chance to win!
