Happy Birthday, Murka!!

Trust me when I say I understand that the 4th of July feels much different this year considering that more than half of the American population just lost their right to make their own healthcare decisions about their bodies. It feels pretty much impossible to celebrate American freedom today when we are not all free or equal. 

And trust me that I also understand that many of you are tired of being asked for support from people like me when things only seem to be getting worse.  

But here's the thing, if we give up and let the GOP make any further gains in Florida, they'll get the super-majority they've been working towards and be able to do ANYTHING they want without even having to listen to our opposition. Everything will be on the line, from a total abortion ban in Florida, expanding access to guns rather than passing common-sense gun safety measures, taking funding away from our children in our public schools, everything. If you think things can't possibly get any worse, I promise you, they can and they will if we give up now.

So I need you to stay in this fight with me. We have to keep working, keep talking to our friends and neighbors about the importance of this election, help to register voters, get people involved, we have to do it all. We cannot put ourselves in a position where we're saying we wish we had done more on November 9th. 

So take today. Be with your friends and families. Relax, have a hotdog and a beer by the pool. Reflect on the freedoms we do still have as Americans. But tomorrow, we're back to work. The work for the freedoms of ALL Americans. And I need you there alongside me.
