Hey folks,

Today, Republican politicians will tweet patriotic platitudes about freedom, independence, and democracy. Tomorrow, they’ll get back to dismantling them.

This July 4th, I’m reflecting on where our country is heading, and what we can do about it. The extreme right just obliterated half a century of progress on women’s rights. Not to mention, the Trump Supreme Court just gutted the Environmental Protection Agency and effectively put the will of polluters over people. Now, they’re setting their sights on same-sex marriage, birth control, and even privacy itself.

We will not blindly follow Republicans down their path of decaying institutions, disappearing freedoms, and false promises.

The truth is, they can’t overcome the power of a committed grassroots movement. A minority of right-wing extremists don’t get to decide our future – it’s up to us.

The GOP is already targeting IL-06 and dozens of other toss-up districts across the country. This November is our best opportunity to change course and fight for a future we can be proud of.

I’m so grateful for your support, today and every day. Have a restful and fun July 4th and enjoy the small moments with your loved ones – tomorrow, we’ll get back to work.
