When I reflect back on my career, I realize how much of my life’s work has been dedicated to the preservation of freedom.
One freedom in particular being the freedom of choice. In our new Post-Roe reality, it is critical that we remember we have the freedom to fight back. Our reproductive freedoms may be jeopardized by extremists heading SCOTUS, but that doesn’t mean we will ever stop advocating for abortion rights, and a better future.
Today, we celebrate nearly two and a half centuries of freedom from tyranny — but we can’t forget that it’s a constant struggle. Freedom is something we have to work for every day of every year – especially now. Our freedom to determine our own futures, and decide for our own bodies, is a right that should never be taken away.
So this July 4th, please join me in taking a moment to remember the work still to be done. Together we’ll get there — but only together.
Thank you for everything,
Carolyn Maloney
