John - Happy Independence Day!

As we celebrate the independence of our country, I am thinking of our nation’s promise of liberty and justice to all.

I am so proud to be an American — and deeply proud of the strides toward equity, toward justice, and toward prosperity that our country and people have made.

But I firmly believe that being a patriot means working to ensure our country lives up to her promise. And while we have made meaningful strides, we are reminded — even just recently — that there is more work to do.

So today, we must all recommit to the work left to be done to live up to our nation’s promise of liberty and justice for all.

Thank you, and I hope you have a restful and meaningful holiday with your loved ones.
