Happy Independence Day!
I'd like to wish you a Happy Fourth of July! For nearly 250 years, we've been celebrating America's independence. As we enjoy this great day, we must continue to remember that this is the greatest nation in the history of the world. I'm proud to stand up for our flag, and I'm proud of what America represents.
On this day, we remember the incredibly bold and courageous decisions that our Founding Fathers made to declare our independence and fight for a nation created under God based on the principles of freedom, democracy, and the rights of individuals to determine their own destiny.

Elevating LA 1 Is a Major Victory For South Louisiana
Last week, we celebrated the groundbreaking of Phase Two of LA Highway 1 (LA 1), which will elevate the remaining 8.3-mile stretch of highway connecting Golden Meadow and Leeville. Elevating LA 1 has long been a top priority of mine, and this monumental groundbreaking is a significant step forward for our region's safety and the nation's energy security.
In 2020, the U.S. Department of Transportation awarded $135 million in Infrastructure for Rebuilding America (INFRA) grant funding for LA 1's elevation, which was the largest INFRA grant award in the country that year. I'm proud to have worked with local and state leaders to get to this moment after I worked with former Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao to secure the INFRA grant award for LA 1.
Elevating LA 1 ensures our state will continue to play an essential role in American energy dominance for decades to come. Read the op-ed that I co-authored with LA 1 Coalition Executive Director Henri Boulet for HoumaToday.com on the significance of this milestone.
Celebrating the Supreme Court's Historic Ruling Overturning Roe v. Wade
The Supreme Court's historic decision to overturn Roe v. Wade last week was a great victory for life and for the millions of people who have been part of the pro-life movement for decades. After we celebrate this victory, pro-life Americans across the country will continue our work in legislative bodies to encourage a culture that protects life.

Since the Roe v. Wade ruling in 1973, 63 million lives have been lost due to legalized abortion. For nearly 50 years, pro-lifers have peacefully marched, prayed, and launched legal and political battles all aimed at reversing a decision that never should have been.
It is an honor to represent you in Congress. For more information, please visit my website, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook pages.
