Happy Fourth of July, Friend!

As we take time today to celebrate with our loved ones – whether that's grilling something tasty, waving flags in a parade, or watching a firework display – I want us to remember the America our Founders believed in.

While our nation was founded in division, the patriots vs the loyalists, our Founders dreamed of a nation built in the spirit of unification. A country where we can have real, compassionate conversations with our neighbors that lead to a more perfect union.

Today, that must be a place where all are welcome and all are free.

I know we have a ways to go to realize that ideal. That's why I'm working to bring people back together, not drive them further apart. Despite the darkness, I hope this holiday can be a bright reminder of all the things we have in common – a love of our country and an unwavering hope for a better, more equitable future.
