Hi John,

If you’re finding it difficult to celebrate America today, you’re not alone. It has been hard not to feel mentally and physically exhausted watching in real time as an increasingly radical GOP and an emboldened conservative Supreme Court attempt to move our country in a dangerous, hate-filled direction. Witnessing the stripping away of fundamental human rights and reliving the violence of the January 6 attack on our democracy are hard to endure.

In this moment—when the future of our country seems more fragile than ever—this community has shown that you’re ready to do what it takes to defend and strengthen our democracy. We’ve heard from so many folks asking “what is the one thing I can do right now that'll really make a difference?” and we’re grateful that this grassroots community of volunteers and donors is ready to channel anger, anxiety, and fear into constructive action.

With the midterm elections rapidly approaching, protecting our environment, ensuring the right to vote, making affordable health care available to all, and restoring the right to a safe, legal abortion across the country all depend on our ability to increase voter turnout to elect Democrats up and down the ballot.

Here’s what you can do to fight for the America we deserve:

- [Find a virtual or in-person voter contact event near you.]([link removed]) Talking to voters is the best way to ensure folks remain aware of the stakes and energized about voting in the midterms.
- [Donate to Swing Left’s National Impact Fund]([link removed]), where 100% of your donation is split amongst the most competitive races across the country, up and down the ballot. The fund is updated frequently by our team of political experts, and currently supports key U.S. House races, U.S. Senate candidates in Nevada, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania, the reelection of Gov. Whitmer in Michigan, and state-level candidates in Arizona and Michigan.
- [Write letters to voters with Vote Forward]([link removed]). You can connect with voters on your own time from the comfort of home by writing ‘please vote’ letters to potential voters in key congressional districts. Vote Forward letters are proven to increase voter turnout.
- [Join a Swing Left group]([link removed]). Especially in challenging times, organizing is better with friends. Find a group of likeminded volunteers in your area who are hosting canvasses, letter writing parties, fundraisers, and more. If getting involved feels a bit daunting, doing it with a seasoned group of volunteers can make all the difference!

The path to winning this year is challenging—midterm elections are difficult for the party in power even under normal circumstances. But we know exactly what we need to do: hold the House, expand the Senate majority, protect Democratic governors, and make critical gains in key state legislatures. It’s going to be difficult, but it’s absolutely doable. We did it in 2018. We did it in 2020. And with your help, we’ll do it again this year.

Thank you for your commitment to creating an America we can all be proud to celebrate.

The Swing Left Team
